Happy Saturday! Since so many people have asked how Nate’s story worked out, I thought you all might like a bit of closure for this week’s snippet. It’s a bit longer than 6 sentences, but I’m sure you’ll all forgive me. In case you’ve forgotten, Nate is telling Trevor his slightly embellished version of his first time. You can read the other parts of it here, here, and here.
“Rocco’s mom just yells something else, and he looks down at me, gives me this shit-eating grin, and leans in for a kiss just as he comes. It was fucking fantastic.” Nate shook his head. “Later on, Rocco’s dad comes back home after watching the game with his friends. We’re standing in the kitchen, eating the lasagna his mom made, when he shows up. She doesn’t know any more about baseball than we do, so she says, ‘Sorry about the Sox game’ and repeats what Rocco told her. His dad gives her a real weird look and says, ‘The Sox played a great game. I think Rocco was messing with you.’ Then he walks off. She looks at us, and she pretty much catches on—she’d suspected for a while—goes beet red, and says she has things to do so we need to get out of her kitchen. You know, she never, ever offered us food again when we hung out.”
Rainbow Snippets is a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ authors, readers, and bloggers to share 6 sentences each week from a work of fiction—published or in-progress—or a book recommendation. Feel free to join in!

Hahahaha! Well, that didn’t go too badly for them. Busted, but not caught red-handed. 🙂
AM Leibowitz
LOL! Yep, exactly. 🙂
Jana Denardo
Snort. Poor Mom.
AM Leibowitz
Hahaha! Yeah, I’m not exactly sure how I would react. I like to think I’m an open-minded parent, but…I might be a little embarrassed. 🙂
P.T. Wyant
LOL Well, I guess I can’t really blame Rocco too much for not paying more attention to the game…
AM Leibowitz
Yes, he was a bit distracted. 😀
Elin
Aww, that’s really funny right up until it isn’t. So sad she chose that way of showing her disapproval.
AM Leibowitz
Oh! Interesting. I didn’t intend it that way, but I do see how it comes across. I had in mind she was more embarrassed/afraid she’d catch them at it again than upset or disapproving.
Dianne Hartsock
Well, it could have gone much worse! Great memory. 🙂
AM Leibowitz
Ha! Right?! 😀
Antonia Aquilante
Oh, dear. Well I suppose it could have gone worse!
