This was a pretty good quick read. I enjoyed the fast pace and the action. What really grabbed my interest was the way it was so difficult to tell who was really the bad guy. There was an excellent surprise with that at the end which I didn’t see coming, though I think there were a few clues.

The story is very short, so don’t expect a lot of character development or a drawn-out, slow-burn romance. This is one of those novellas you simply have to set aside a chunk of time so you can read it start to finish. Readers should know there are scenes of violence/torture and there’s some sexually explicit material.

I’ve read some of Rachael Orman’s other work, and I enjoy it, so I thought I’d take a chance on this one. I’m glad I did. For a suspenseful ride, a sexy hunk, and a fistful of surprises, this gets 7 fountain pens.
