Happy Bi Visibility Day! I’ve been posting stuff for #BiWeek:
- Daily flash fiction
- The Big Bi List (you can comment there and add your name if you identify as bi+/pan/etc. or add your books if they have a bi+ main character/themes)
- Book Reviews
- What bi visibility means to me
- And of course, the giveaway below
And my snippet today follows from last week’s. This involves a common misconception about bi men, but the person thinking it quickly corrects herself. LR and Jamal are one of two M/F couples with at least one bi+ partner in this series. The other, Cooper and Lucy, appear in the third novel, out in November. Cooper came out in a previous novel; his wife never specifies, but Word of God (a.k.a. me) says she’s bi too.
One conversation had led to another, and before they de-boarded, Jamal had asked her for a date. At first, she’d been taken aback. Sure, he was gorgeous, charming, funny, smart—everything she liked in a man. But wasn’t he gay? He’d been reading Micah’s book, after all. As soon as the thought flashed through her mind, she wanted to smack herself for her own assumptions. Fortunately, she hadn’t been foolish enough to ruin her chances with him by saying anything out loud other than, “Sure, I’d love to.”
Now, weeks later, LR was lying in his arms, sweaty and sticky and in absolute bliss. Jamal nuzzled her neck, and she groaned. She could definitely go again, if he gave her a few minutes to catch her breath.
Rainbow Snippets is a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ authors, readers, and bloggers to share 6 sentences each week from a work of fiction—published or in-progress—or a book recommendation. Feel free to join in!
