I love highlighting the work of other authors! I know firsthand how hard it is to be self-published and independently published. Use the contact form under the Request a Guest Spot page to request promotion of your work without a book review. As of now, review requests are closed while I’m on hiatus. Hopefully, I’ll be able to offer reviews again after a break.
While I’m taking some time off, I still have openings for other readers and writers to supply guest posts. This includes your reviews, anonymous or not. Just fill out one of the forms on the contact menu.
I will still provide the occasional review of what I’m reading, however. When I review a book here, either as part of a tour or independently, I use a 10-point system (where most blogs and sellers use a 5-point system). I feel this more accurately represents my review and gives me greater flexibility. I do use the 5-star ratings when I post to other sites. Here’s how it works:
0 = This is the worst thing I ever read and it disgusts me on every level. (I have never actually given this rating, just FYI.)
5 = This was average; not my favorite, but not bad.
10 = Oh my gosh, go buy this immediately because you are missing out on life for not having read it.
Everything else falls somewhere between those, and I also use half-point ratings. I use fountain pens instead of stars because, well, I like them.
Translations to Goodreads/book seller ratings: In general, you can cut your pen rating in half to see what it would get on other sites. But a book may receive more or fewer depending on half-pen ratings (I round up) and what else I have to say about the story.
