It’s very likely that some people (okay, the ten or so of you who actually read this blog) might be wondering why I haven’t posted much all week. I promise, I’m not ignoring you.
Not only have I started writing for an online magazine, I am doing something incredibly interesting or incredibly dumb. Take your pick. I signed up for National Novel Writing Month.
If you’re unfamiliar with NaNoWriMo, the object is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. Not a polished novel, or even a good novel. Just a novel. And…yeah. Not something I’ve ever done before. So, here I am, about 6,000 words in or so.
I decided that my goal wouldn’t be to get to 50,000. That just sounds daunting. I mean, really? 50,000 words? 30 days? And I also have to do everything else I usually do? Nope, my goal is to finish the story. So even if I don’t get to 50,000 before November 30, and even if I don’t finish the story by then, I will get it done.
For the very curious, and those who are also doing it, I’m on there as wifie29. And yes, I really am writing a young adult novel about penguins. Sort of.

I wrote on November 1st, and haven’t managed to find the time to continue since then. But my husband is something like 7000 words into his novel.
I only signed up for NaNoWriMo because so many of my FB friends were doing it. I wasn’t committed to it. When I set a goal, I meet it. I can tell I wasn’t really setting NaNoWriMo as a goal.
Go you, though!
BTW, since you moved blogs, I’ve fallen behind. Playing catch up slowly. I do most of my blog reading at work, and we’ve been slammed. So I’m behind in all the blogs I read. Not neglecting you… just behind.

I’ve never done it. I’ve had this story nagging me, and I decided it needed me to give it some TLC. Writing for NaNo is forcing me to work on it for real. Otherwise, I would probably start it and never finish.
No worries on being swamped at work. I do appreciate you and the others who read my ramblings.
