So, yeah. Busy week in our household, what with redecorating three rooms. Last time we redecorated, we did two rooms. I think I recall saying at the time that I never again wanted to take on more than one project at a time. So much for that. At least this time the wallpaper removal was only borders and not the entire wall. We’re nearly there, just painting and moving Jack back into his room.
Enough about my news, let’s get to what’s out there in the wide world. Up this week: Open mouth, insert foot idiocy; artwork what the heck moment; and some good news for a fellow blogger (a week late, but I’m sure she’ll forgive me).
1. Todd Akin’s Offensive Words about Rape
Yes, I know I already posted about this one. But the conversation is still going on. Here’s a nice timeline of last Sunday and Monday. I try to stay out of politics (of the Democrat vs. Republican kind). But I have to say, both Presidential candidates did their parties proud by openly, directly, and forcefully condemning Todd Akin’s remarks. Many thanks to both sides for doing the right thing here.
2. “Restoration” of Elías García Martinez’s “ecce homo” fresco
Um.
Read more about it here.
3. Good news for writer Dianna Anderson
If you’re not reading her blog, you should be. In this post (which I missed due to my home improvement absence), she discusses the good news that she’s signed on with an agent. She is a very talented writer, and I can’t wait to read her book. Many congratulations and best of luck!
