I’m sorry that my post will be a bit short today. It’s my daughter’s birthday, so I’m off to celebrate with her by going to Build-a-Bear and the zoo. A few quick updates:
- Write 1 hr/day in Passing on Faith: √ Sort of. Some days it’s a bit less, some more, but it’s averaging out.
- Read 30 min/day: √ Still keeping up. I’ve read several good books in the last few weeks!
- Write 1 post/week other than ROW80/WIPpet: √ Yup, just posted it.
WIPpet:
Here’s the end of the scene I’ve been posting the last couple of weeks. I’m too busy to move on to another section of the book this week. Hopefully, next week I’ll be able to let you see something further on in the story. No complicated math today; thirteen sentences for the thirteenth.
Cat smiled, but there was something behind it—something Micah could only identify as wistful, but that didn’t make any sense. He extracted himself from that thought and stood up.
“I should probably start working on something in here,” he said.
Rising from the chair, Cat said, “I’ll leave you to it—I have another job, so I need to go change. You’ll let me know if you need anything in the meantime?”
“Sure. Yeah.”
They moved into the hallway, and for whatever reason, Micah was reluctant to see Cat leave. Cat seemed to pick up on the hesitation because he smirked and offered the same almost-twitch of his hips Micah had seen the previous day. It made Micah laugh.
“I promise, I’ll be around,” Cat said. He ginned and ducked out the door.
Micah followed him out, standing on the porch to watch him go and wondering when he might see him again.
Thanks to K. L. Schwengel for making this blog hop happen. Be sure to check out the other entries and maybe add your own. Just put a bit of your current work-in-progress on your blog, connected to the date, and link up with us. Happy writing!

Hope you and your daughter have a great birthday celebration!
Nice excerpt. Looks like this neighbor is going to be more than just helpful …

It was a ~fabulous~ day, capped off by my husband coming home early from work to take us all out to dinner to celebrate. 🙂
Cat is definitely more than helpful. Hopefully these guys won’t get too distracted!

Happy Birthday to your daughter Amy. Hope she has a lovely day.
Great excerpt, makes me wonder where Cat and Micah’s seemingly mutual attraction will lead. 🙂
AM Leibowitz
I’m fairly sure my daughter counts this as one of her best birthdays ever. 🙂
It’s definitely leading somewhere, just not too quickly. They both have a lot to work through first.

Happy Birthday to Sarah! Enjoy the zoo! Nice excerpt, too. I enjoyed it.
AM Leibowitz
The zoo was lots of fun. 🙂
Glad you liked the excerpt!

Happy birthday to your girl! Hope it’s a lot of fun. Nice excerpt. There’s an ease to the way you write that really draws the reader in. Brava!

Build-a-Bear AND the zoo! Now that would be a happy birthday indeed for the girl in my life! May it delight you both! =)
Looks like Micah is well on his way to being bewitched, bewildered, and bothered! And somehow, I feel that Cat will not only make it delicious, but also, just maybe, a little dangerous! =)
That hip twitch? LOVE IT!

It was so much fun! She ended up with a Girl Scout kitty, and we followed it up with a trip to the Lego Store for make-your-own mini figs. I could probably spend hours in there.
Oh, Micah is definitely entranced. There’s probably quite a bit of danger for both these guys in choosing each other. For now, just a bit of flirting. The hip twitch? Let’s just say Cat’s doing a bit of “research.”

I have no doubt Micah will see him again!
AM Leibowitz
He’ll be seeing quite a bit of him, yes. 😉

My kids really like Build a Bear. Hope you both had a great time. I like the smirk. I feel like I can picture it very clearly.

We had a great time. I like Build-a-Bear too! 🙂
I’m glad to know that smirk came across the way I intended.

I like these two characters’ interaction. They seem cute. 😀

We’re going to the zoo Sunday. My employer is having a picnic there along with Zoo ala Carte. Very fun.
Ah…Micah…you’re warming up to Cat, I see. I like the bit of tension you’re building between them. Well, tension from Micah’s side. Cat seems totally fine with it. 🙂

Nice to see Micah in a better mood this time. Clearly Cat’s been working on hi, slowly and carefully. Good signs for their future
Happy belated birthday, young lady! (will you pass the message on, Amy?) A Girl Scout Kitty sounds perfect.

I hope your daughter had an amazing birthday, although I don’t see how she couldn’t have with that lineup! I’m late getting around to spreading ROW80 blog love, so I hope the rest of your August has been productive.
