It’s been about 6 weeks since my last WIPpet. I promised I would get back to it, and then I didn’t. A big reason is wanting to do the other WIPpeteers justice. If I can’t take the time to read them all, then I won’t post one because I don’t feel it’s a fair trade. Doing that once in a while is okay, but I knew with several editing projects and a book launch (yesterday!) it would be nearly impossible. I hope today marks the start of getting back to joining the fun!
Speaking of the book launch, Trevor and Andre are finally live. Anthem is now on Amazon! So far, it’s gotten some good attention. I did a cover reveal a couple of weeks ago and then a virtual book blast. I still like to admire the cover; the artist did such a nice job with what I asked for.
On to this week’s WIP. Believe it or not, I’m still editing Cat’s story. I’m working on three other WIPs, but I’m not quite ready to post bits of them. The first is a short story I’m submitting to an anthology. I’m actually writing women this time! The second is the next book in the Notes from Boston series, and the third is a sequel to Passing on Faith (Walking by Faith is a prequel). Only the short story is actually in the writing stage—the others are still in research/planning mode.
When we last saw Cat, he was upset over an argument with Micah and remembering something from his past. WbF is primarily a prequel with a few flash-forwards to PoF. This is from the opening scene of the earlier time period. Cat is a 19yo college student.
WIPmath: 3/2 = 3 + 2 = 5 sentences
When Cat stepped onto the porch, Bryce tangled his fingers with Cat’s. He dragged Cat into his personal space, giving him a light kiss on the mouth. Sure, they’d kissed before, but never anything out where someone walking by could see. It was always just messing around in their rooms—nothing serious. Cat jerked back, startled.
Like what you read? Be sure to check out the other entries and add your own. Just post a bit of your WIP, connect it to the date, and link up with us. Many thanks to Emily Witt for giving us this space. Happy reading and writing!

I missed your release? FRIG. I need to go check that out, because I enjoyed your snippets.
“If I can’t take the time to read them all, then I won’t post one because I don’t feel it’s a fair trade.” I feel the same way, which is why I don’t always post. I think I sometimes forget to check back to see if there were any late-comers, but I always get to them if they comment on mine. Sometimes I mess up, but I try. It’s REALLY good to have you back!

I didn’t do as much this time pre-launch. I posted some snippets on my author page for the last couple weeks, and then yesterday I shared links to the blogs hosting the book blast, but I didn’t do a big release day party. Those can be so exhausting, LOL!
It’s nice to be back! It’s so nice to read these again. I’ve missed everyone. I know what you mean about trying even when messing up sometimes. I’ve had times when I couldn’t get to all of them or missed a few stragglers. But I do my best.

I’m laughing but not at your writing but the way you wonderfully described Bryce entangling Cat. That’s cool. Cat was totally surprised. I smell change in the air and by that I mean in Bryce.
And I like your attitude toward WIPpet Wednesday. If you can’t visit all then none. You have an excellent attitude.
Shalom,
Pat

Thanks! 🙂 It was fun writing the two of them together.
I’m big on making sure I get around to seeing what other writers are up to, and I’ve made some good writing friends this way.

This week’s snippet makes the relationship even clearer, even if it’s very, very short. Cat’s reaction tells much about his surprise. And I’m glad you’re back — even clarifying the goal to read EVERYONE who posts. I keep learning from everyone as we go and hope to do better. So, post or not, but if I post, I will read them all. 🙂 Now, I have to go check out ANTHEM. Congratulations!

Thanks! I had to warn my betas not to get too attached to Bryce, LOL (he doesn’t die or anything, just that this is teenage puppy love). But for now, these two are pretty cute together.

Welcome back! I always enjoy reading your WIPpets and this one was no different. 🙂
AM Leibowitz
Aw, thank you! 🙂

I totally hear you on the fair trade thing! I’ve posted the last couple of weeks with the intention of visiting everyone, then felt awful when I realise it’s Tuesday and I’m resetting the linky without having visited anyone. I’m doing much better this week, though!
I absolutely ADORE the cover for Anthem.
Cute little snippet, I like Cat’s surprise.

Yeah, that was why I stopped for a while. I ended up feeling bad because I only got to half the WIPpets one week, so I opted not to post the next week if I thought it would be too busy. And then…well, it got too busy for a lot of weeks, LOL.
Anthem is the first in a series, and I knew I wanted the Boston skyline in the cover. The series is about musicians, so I also chose stock photos of musical instruments and asked if the cover artist could do something to incorporate them. He did such a gorgeous job!
Cat’s reactions to things are half the fun of writing him. 🙂

Welcome back and yay for more Cat! !
I always try to read everyone’s and at least comment on most of them. That’s something I still struggle with a bit.
I can’t wait to read Anthem. I also have Passing on Faith on my Kindle, so I’ll be reading it sometime. Can’t wait to get to it.
AM Leibowitz
Yeah, I understand. It’s funny, I’m a lot more forgiving when other people don’t make it to my WIPpet than I am of myself for not doing the full rounds.
And definitely yay for more Cat. I completely agree! I’m happy to be back to editing him. 😀

Nice to have you back, Amy, and yay on the new release!
Fun snippet. I can totally understand Cat’s reaction. 🙂

Thanks!
Yeah, I’d have been surprised in Cat’s shoes too. 🙂
