“Honey, I’m home.”

Alex laughed and came out of the kitchen to greet his husband. “We’ve talked about this, right? You do not walk into this apartment and talk to me like I’m the little wife.”

Leo kissed him soundly on the cheek. “Aw, but you’d look great in an apron, holding a glass of beer out for your weary, hard-working hubby.” He smirked. “And besides, no one in their right mind would call you little.”

Alex quirked his eyebrows. “One, you don’t drink beer, which is why there’s a glass of chilled chardonnay on the living room table, waiting for you. Two, excuse me—weary? Hard-working? You’ve been standing around in leather chaps and a harness, watching while guys do all manner of things to each other, which probably included a lot of fucking, because, hey, it’s Saturday night, right?”

Leo sighed happily. “What can I say? I love my job.”

Meet K.C. Wells:

Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C. WELLS always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way. K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, when the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings—writing about men in love was even hotter…

“Alex? Could you and the boys come in here, please?” Thomas called from the doorway.

“Of course, sir. Right away.”

“Have we done something wrong?” Peter asked.

“I don’t see how we could have,” Scott replied. “Unless Ben found my—um…never mind.”

Alex frowned. “Scott? Something you want to tell us?”

Scott flushed and lowered his gaze. “No, not really.”

“If we’re about to get yelled at, I’d like to know why,” Gareth told him.

“I’ve been working on a new book,” Scott answered. “It might be a little…autobiographical.”

“In other words, you’re writing smut,” Alex said, a huge grin spreading across his face.

“No!” Scott protested. “Maybe. I just wanted to see if I could write something more…you know, adult oriented.”

“Guys, I doubt that Ben would come in here and tell anyone. He’d probably make Scott act it out for him.”

“Boys, we’re waiting,” Thomas repeated.

They moved together, plodding toward the door. When they walked into the office, they found Leo, Thomas, Ben, Alan, Andrew, and Eli waiting for them.

“Ben?”

Ben looked up at Scott, but Alex wasn’t sure what the expression on his face meant.

“Sir, are we in trouble?”

“Well,” Leo answered, “three of you are. The question is, which three?”

The subs looked at one another, each equally uncertain. When Thomas laughed, the other Doms joined in.

“Okay, it’s not fair to tease them,” Thomas said. “Next week is Pride week. Our foundation is going to be sponsoring a game, and they need three couples to participate. The thing is, we’re going to let you boys draw lots. If you ‘win’, then you and your Dom will appear on stage for the game.”

“And if you ‘win’,” Ben said, narrowing his gaze at Scott, “there will be a punishment in your future.”

“Ben…” Leo admonished.

“What?” Ben answered. “I don’t want to be up on stage, and I sure as heck don’t want to be doing this game.”

“It’s for charity,” Thomas countered. “It will raise a lot of money to help LGBT kids.”

“And whose bright idea was it?” Alan demanded.

“Tony at the door. He works with the kids, and he thought it would be something we could all do to help out. But, if you’d rather not help, that’s fine. I’m sure the kids will understand,” Leo said sadly.

“You’re an arse,” Ben replied, but there wasn’t any heat to his words. “If Scott pulls the short straw, we’ll do it.”

“Great!” Leo reached into the drawer and pulled out several cocktail straws, which he held in his fist. “Okay, who wants to go first?”

Alex stepped forward and grabbed a straw. He held it aloft, then grinned. “I’m safe,” he said triumphantly.

“Next?”

Scott reached out a trembling hand, not looking away from a scowling Ben. “Damn,” he whispered, as he had just a piece of straw.

“Peter?”

Peter trembled slightly. “Sir?”

“You don’t have to do this, lad. You can be excused if you’d rather.”

“It’s fine, Peter. We’ll all understand,” Alex soothed.

“No, I-I want to do it.”

His straw was the equivalent of Alex’s. Alex high-fived him.

“Jarod?”

Jarod sighed, then pulled a straw. His was also long.

“And finally, Gareth.”

“There’s only one left. And it’s probably the other little one.” He snatched it out of Leo’s hand, and growled when he found out it was a small one.

“Excellent! We have our teams. Alex and Leo. Me and Peter. Jarod and Eli.”

“Wait. What?” Alex protested. “We have the long straws. Ben said if Scott drew the short one—”

“Indeed he did. But the long straws were the ones who would win. Congratulations gentlemen.”

The day of the event had turned decidedly gray and chilly. Rain threatened, but didn’t show. It still made for a sparse crowd. Ben and Scott sat on two of the many open chairs, waiting for the game to begin. Surprisingly, though, as it got closer to show time, the people began pouring in. They were loud, their laughter raucous, and Scott watched as Peter slid a little closer to Thomas.

“Poor Peter,” he whispered.

“He’ll be fine,” Ben replied. “Look.”

Thomas twined their fingers together, and whispered something that had Peter nodding.

A few minutes passed, then a bawdy drag queen strolled out onto the stage. “Hey, boys! Having fun?”

The crowd cheered.

“Great! I’m your host, Candy Dish, and we’ve got some fun for you tonight. These three teams are competing for a two-hundred-dollar shopping spree. Now you’ve all seen The Dating Game, right?”

A few people raised their hands.

“God, you queens get younger and younger every year,” Candy complained. “Okay, listen. We’ve asked each of the Doms three questions. The answers are written in the cards we’re going to be giving them. Each of their boys have to answer it, and match the Dom, in order to win. Simple, no?”

“This isn’t going to go well,” Ben whispered.

“Why not?”

“Alex is a smart arse, Peter looks as though he might pass out, and Eli would probably love to use this as an excuse to punish Jarod…in a fun way.”

“Are you boys ready?” Candy called out.

The contestants indicated they were.

“Okay, boys we’ve asked your Doms the following multiple choice question. What do you think their answer will be? On your first date, what animal was your significant other? A) Cute and cuddly like a kitten, B) Like a turtle, always afraid to make the first move, C) Like a tiger, brave and courageous, or D) like an octopus…which needs no further explanation, I’m sure. We’ll start with you, Alex. For ten points, what did Leo say.

Alex smirked. “Leo was cute and cuddly, like a kitten.”

“Leo, hold up your card, please.” Leo frowned as he lifted his card. “Oh, sorry, Alex. Leo said he was like a tiger, brave and courageous.”

“A kitten? Where in the hell did you get that?”

“Because you were so cute and shy. When you told me you were a Dom, I couldn’t believe it.”

Leo dropped the card on the side of his chair and grumbled something under his breath.

“Okay, Peter. What will Thomas say he was like on your first date?”

Peter took a deep breath, then gazed at Thomas lovingly. “He was like a tiger. So brave and courageous.”

“And Thomas, what did you say?”

Thomas dropped his gaze. “I said like a turtle. I was afraid to make a move.”

“Sorry guys, but you missed that one. Finally, Jarod. What did Eli say he was like on your first date?”

Jarod frowned. “On our first real date? Like an octopus. I probably still have the marks.”

Eli held up his card and jumped in his seat when his answer matched Jarod’s.

“Congratulations! Now, question number two: If your Dom was a car, what kind of car does he think he’d be? A) Corvette, sleek and sexy. B) An SUV, power, muscle, and durability, C) A Jeep Wrangler, adventurous and wild, or D) A Cadillac, elegant, graceful, and luxurious? Alex?

“Was there a golf cart in there somewhere?”

Candy snorted, then shook her head.

“Okay, Leo would be a Corvette. Sleek and sexy.”

“Leo! How did you answer?”

Leo held up his card. “Sleek and sexy? I thought it was more elegant and graceful.”

“Why would you think that? Watching you strip off your clothes—”

“Okay, we’ll talk about this when we get home,” Leo said, cutting Alex off.

“Peter?”

“My master would definitely be a Cadillac.”

“And what did Thomas say?”

Thomas held his card aloft. “Cadillac!”

Peter leaned over and kissed Thomas, blushing slightly when the crowd gave a catcall.

“And Jarod? What kind of car is Eli?”

Jarod laughed. “He would definitely be a Jeep Wrangler. He’s got a lot of ideas on how to make me suffer.”

Eli pulled a face and lifted his card. “An SUV. Full of power and muscle. You remember what happened when we worked out?”

A fond, faraway glazed look reached Jarod’s eyes. And Ben could see him adjusting his pants.

“The score is Alex and Leo zero, Thomas and Peter one, and Eli and Jarod one. Our final question. We asked your Doms what kind of sea creature you’d consider yourself. A) Dolphin, fun and loveable, B) a crab, grumpy and irascible, C) A shark, predatory and hungry, or D) A playful seal? Alex?”

“Leo would definitely say I was a playful seal.”

Leo grinned widely as he held up the card. “Finally,” he huffed, taking a kiss.

“Peter?”

“Master Thomas would say I’m a shark. Predatory and hungry.”

Thomas pulled a face. “A shark? You’re a dolphin. Fun and loveable.”

“Fun and loveable?” Peter argued. “When we were in bed last night, you asked me ‘don’t you ever get enough?’”

Thomas’s eyes went wide. “We were talking about cheese and crackers!”

“Yes, but you still asked me that question.”

“Fine. Shark.” Thomas shook his head.

“And finally, Jarod. What kind of animal did Eli say you were?”

“Knowing him? Probably a crab.”

“I did not!” Eli protested. He lifted the card from his lap. “I said you were a Dolphin. Why would I say you were a crab?”

“Because you complain that I’m grumpy now that I can’t have coffee.”

“Oh,” Eli replied. “Well, there is that.”

Candy waved her hands. “We have a three-way tie! God, I still remember my first three-way. But that’s a story for another day. So, guys…do you want to have a tie-breaker, winner takes all, or do you want to call it a draw?”

The subs put their heads together, looked at their Doms, then huddled again. Jarod stood and faced the crowd. “We’re going to stay with a draw. This was about raising money for charity, and we did that. Our Masters know how much we love them, and we’re not about to get on their bad sides by forcing a sudden death question. Though one of us did say he’d prefer to go for the tie-breaker.”

“That was me, Leo. I figured if I got this one wrong, I’d get a nice, rosy arse.”

“I knew you weren’t playing to win,” Leo said.

“There you have it folks. Our subs know their Doms. At least a little. We had a lot of fun with this, and maybe we’ll do it again next year. And who knows? Maybe you’ll be chosen to be part of the panel. Until then, have a good night, drive safe, and always remember to cover your stump before you hump.”
