Happy Wednesday! I just sent my two off for their first day of school, grades 6 and 8. Both of them are excited and nervous but ready to get started. I can’t wait to hear how it all went when they get home. Meanwhile, this is the longest stretch of uninterrupted work I’ve ever had. My day now starts at 7:15 when the kids leave, and I have until 1:30 when I take the dog for a walk before the kids arrive home. It’s strange and wonderful all at once.
On to the WIPpet. I’ll bet you’d all like to go check in on Nate and see what he’s up to. In Anthem, Nate made some poor choices which affected his relationship with his best friend. Here, in Nightsong, he’s somewhere between “still being an ass” and “doing penance for his sins.”
WIPmath: Very simple; 7 sentences for the 7th
On the commuter rail, Nate answered his cell phone halfway through his “You Draw Me In” ringtone. That was the song which had caused all the trouble—Trevor’s Christian radio hit which was actually about the time Trevor sucked off his boyfriend in a bar bathroom. It was probably in poor taste to use it as Trevor’s ring, given the fact that it was Nate’s fault Trevor’s life had gone sideways over the summer. Outing Trevor during the furor over the song hadn’t been Nate’s best move. Using it as his ringtone was his way of constantly reminding himself not to create drama anywhere but on stage if he wanted to keep his friendships intact. Trevor didn’t know he was using it, seeing as he didn’t call Nate while in his presence. What he wasn’t aware of wouldn’t hurt him.
Like what you read? Be sure to check out the other entries and add your own. Just post a bit of your WIP, connect it to the date, and link up with us. Many thanks to Emily Witt for giving us this space. Happy reading and writing!

Oh, Nate. I had to laugh that he has that as his ringtone, though. 🙂

Ha! Right? Only Nate would do something like that.

Wait, did Trevor give a BJ to Nate’s boyfriend, or to his own boyfriend? Either way that is rough to use that song as a ringtone!

In the first novel in the series, Trevor hooks up with a guy (who ends up dating). He writes a song about it which people take as religious. A blogger thinks he’s being clever by suggesting the song is really not about God, and Nate confirms it. And now he’s using it as his ringtone. Which…yep. Probably not a good idea.

Sort of like the hoo-hah over “Take Me To Church”… Oh, Nate! You should know better.
Every time I hear about your children’s school (usually via FB), I want to pack up the family and move out your way. Here’s to many weird and wonderful days this year.

LOL! Yeah. I originally based it on a previous incident where a blogger wrote a whole post on “erotic” lyrics in praise & worship songs. And Nate absolutely should know better, LOL.
I love my kids’ school, and every year, I find more reasons. When both my kids come home nearly every day talking about what they learned and the friends they hung out with, I know it’s good.

This guy never learns. What happens when Trevor has his telephone in his hand for some reason and it rings. What will he do then?
Still in many ways, I feel sorry for him.
Shalom aleichem,

It’s definitely not going to go well for Nate the day Trevor finds out, that’s for sure.
I feel bad for him too, though.
