Happy Saturday! Posting this a bit later than usual because we were busy with the kids’ birthday party. They arranged the whole thing, invited guests, and decided what they wanted to do. We just took care of the food and supervising them. They wanted a pizza party at the park down the street, so that’s what we did. Now we’re home and relaxing.
Today’s snippet is from later on in the same story I’ve been posting from, “Pretty Boyish.” It can be found in my anthology Leaps of Faith (link in sidebar). Last time, Cat was admiring a bathing suit. This time, he’s turned his attention to a person.
There was also a new boy, and Cat stopped short when he saw him. The boy was, for lack of a better word, beautiful. Radiant, even. Cat was sure he’d never seen anyone so wonderful in his life. Later, when they were older, this would be a joke between them. For now, Cat was mesmerized watching the boy’s graceful motion as he lay back in the grass and put his hands behind his head.

I’ve read lots of good description today, including this. How carefree… head back, hands behind the head. Relaxed.
Nice snippet!

Thank you! These characters are so easy and enjoyable to write about, maybe because I’ve been doing it for so long.

Great snippet – I have this on my Kindle, so looking forward to reading the whole story.

I like it – can feel the ease and relaxation in the new boy. Great snippet. 🙂

I’m glad that came through. 🙂

I love this series but don’t think I’ll ever forgive you for what you did to Cat 🙁
AM Leibowitz
Ah, yeah. I wasn’t going to, but Cat made it clear it was time. (Cat is partially based on a real person.) And that’s the lead-in to the last book anyway. Cat’s in it, just not in exactly the same way. And I do promise that one has a very happy ending, though I won’t spoil what makes it happy.

His people watching is likely to lead to trouble. Great description, though — it was easy to see what he was seeing.
AM Leibowitz
Ha! Yes, it will lead to a little trouble. But it might also lead to something very good, too.

Love at first sight? The description was perfect. 🙂
AM Leibowitz
At the very least, crush at first sight! 🙂
K.S. Trenten
Love that last line. (heart)
AM Leibowitz
Aw, thanks! 🙂
Addison Albright
Lovely! I love how this description is all about how it makes Cat feel.
AM Leibowitz
Thank you! I love seeing things from a character’s POV and interpreting how they’re feeling/reacting to it.
Kai Tyler
There’s something wonderful about a first ‘sighting’.
Looking forward to what happens when they actually meet.
AM Leibowitz
Oh, yes. The crush-at-first-sight is definitely a sweet moment. We’ll just have to wait and see if it goes both ways. 🙂
Jana Denardo
I really liked the description in this.
