Happy Wednesday! Life has finally settled down from school musical #1, a houseful of colds, and the holiday. There’s at least two weeks before further havoc ensues.
It’s already a weird week. I had one of those good news/bad news doctor appointments. On the plus side, I have the overall health of someone half my age. But on the down side, my initial diagnosis is probably wrong. Now begins the long road of figuring out exactly which autoimmune disorder I actually do have. Yay.
I got to go see Bohemian Rhapsody with my older kid this past weekend. What a great movie. If you’re looking for a documentary, this is not that film. It’s a Hollywood movie that took liberties for dramatic effect. I mean, I realize it is shocking that they’d do such a thing, of course. Anyway, it’s really good, so go see it. Probably worth it just for the soundtrack, honestly.
Okay, on to the WIPpet. I’m still in Tree of Life. I won’t finish it for NaNoWriMo, but I’m okay with that. I made good progress, and it’s turning out well for a first draft. I need to work on some things, and I constructed a chart (sob).
Since you all want to know if Luke makes that phone call, here you go. The first sentence, in red, is from last week.
WIPmath: 11/28/2018 = 8 / 2 = 4 paragraphs
A simple yes or no, that’s all he has to provide.
He won’t do it naked. As he stands and grabs his briefs, he hears the water turn on in the bathroom. He yanks on most of his clothes and sits on the couch. Hand shaking, he reaches out for his phone. There are so many things he wants to ask Connor, like why he wants Luke to be the one to come with him. Why not a lover or someone who has been at least a better friend? Why ask someone who didn’t give him a chance before escaping?
He’s hitting Connor’s number now, praying Jax stays in the shower long enough for him to give Connor his decision. He knows what he should say, which isn’t necessarily what he will say.
Connor answers after four rings. “Hello?”
Luke’s mouth is dry. He licks his lips. “Hey, it’s Luke.”
Like what you read? Be sure to check out the other entries and add your own. Just post a bit of your WIP, connect it to the date, and link up with us. Many thanks to Emily Wrayburn for giving us this space. Happy reading and writing!

The most burning question I have is…what kind of chart? 😀
The buildup to the phone call is awesome – I’m not sure I could make/answer a call in the buff, whoever it was on the other end.

I absolutely cannot answer the phone undressed, LOL. I mean, it’s not like they can see me, but…yeah. That’s a no.
My chart is just a spreadsheet. I need to transfer it out of Scrivener, though, because it ended up being a mess in there. It’s basically a layout of what each section needs so I can work on story flow. Once I have it in a better format, I’ll color code it. Then, once I finish writing the basic plot, I’ll add in the rest. I was getting bogged down in the details when what I need is to write the framework and add on. Writing lit fiction is really different from writing semi-romance, and I’m not entirely sure I’m good at it, LOL. That’ll teach me to write a genre I’m not used to.

Ah, the build up to the phone call is great. That can be more nerve wracking than the actual call(or maybe that’s just me). This is great. I’m glad you made good progress this month.

I’m with Fallon… I love how you built up to that phone call, AM.
I hear you with the “finished NaNo and now the real work begins”… Best wishes to real progress.

I don’t have a chart, more like a notebook filled with kind of, sort of organized ideas, things to do, things to fix…
And you can’t answer the phone while undressed. I find that amusing. Not judging, believe me, and I’m easily amused.
I do love the build-up to the phone call. Self-talk, I can do this… it’s all important if you really don’t want to do something.
