Happy Wednesday! I have a house full of teenagers. We took our kids and their friends to see Ready Player One last night. What a fantastic movie, and well worth seeing on the big screen. The book is great too; it’s one of my son’s favorites. He was thrilled to see they were making it into a film.
On to the WIPpet. I’m snipping again from Minuet, even though it’s now a secondary project. I’m working on something to submit for an anthology, and that’s my priority due to the deadline. But I’m also continuing to work here and there on Mack’s story.
Last time, Mack was watching the fiddler from the audience. This time, he’ll be a bit closer.
WIPmath: 4/4/2018 = 4 x 4 = 16 sentences.
Afterward, the chatter began again. The live entertainment was done. Mack wondered if Cian would stick around for long. Bars weren’t the best places for him to have a conversation; even with his hearing aids in, he couldn’t follow along with all the background noise. Neither Mack nor the others knew enough ASL to communicate more than a handful of awkward sentences. Still, Cian would at least stop by. He wasn’t oblivious to the reason they were all there, but he would be gracious about it.
When Cian slid into a chair next to Mack, it startled him. Even more surprising was that he’d brought one of the others with him. The fiddler, Mack realized after a second. He was slim, like Mack, but more muscular rather than skinny. His dark hair was thick and straight, cut so it was shorter in back and a bit longer in front, styled to look nicely androgynous. He’d changed out of what he’d worn on stage, down to a plain blue T-shirt and a pair of well-worn jeans. Somehow, he made them look classy.
Cian interrupted Mack’s intake report. “This is Jomari, my most excellent fiddler.”
