Happy Saturday! We survived the first 3 days of school. Let’s see if this pattern holds for the next 177.
I missed last week because we were away and I was supposed to be spending the weekend unplugged. I did cheat a few times and checked messages, but that’s all. I managed to finish 4 books and start a 5th, which I finished yesterday. You can read all the reviews on my blog.
I’m snipping again from my anthology, Leaps of Faith. The last book in the series, Keeping the Faith, is out in less than two months! Leaps of Faith is a collection of short stories about the various characters in the Faithfully Yours series.
It’s been so crappy, with horrible weather and horrible new things the Cheeto-in-Chief is doing. I thought we could use some sweetness and some hope. This is from “If These Walls Could Speak.” Under the circumstances, I hope you’ll forgive me for going over the 6 sentences.
“If I lost all this—the body you have touched and kissed and loved all these years—would it matter to you?” Zayne asked.
Pam’s eyes raked over her, from the top of her head to her polished toenails. Yes, she might miss being able to touch Zayne in ways that made her gasp and writhe and arch her back. Yes, she might miss running her hand over her hair as they lay sweaty and sated. Yes, she might miss the way they fit just right against each other when they fell asleep. But those were not what she was afraid of losing or of taking away.
“As long as I still had you, I wouldn’t care,” she said.
Rainbow Snippets is a safe and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ authors, readers, and bloggers to share 6 sentences each week from a work of fiction—published or in-progress—or a book recommendation. Feel free to join in!
